I just finished watching a vblog entry by Steven Furtick, Pastor Elevation Church, Charlotte NC, entitiled "You're Not Francis Chan" (follow this link to see http://www.stevenfurtick.com/video-blog/youre-not-francis-chan/). I just wanted to say thank you to Steven. I am a fan of Francis' work but Steven nails it in this vblog. One of the dangers of the "superstar" Christian is just what he talks about. What is even more frustrating is, when as a Pastor of a rural church, others determine to value your ministry compared to those in the limelight. The words here by Steven, one of those "superstar" Pastors is something that should speak to the heart of every pastor, regardless of your congregational size. It is imperative that we as pastors remember that we are not measured by man's image of what our ministry is doing, but by God's. As long as we believe that we are being faithful to what God has called us to do, then we are were we should be. A national platform, couple of bestselling books and a church the size of a small town is not an imperative. Christ told us that those who believe would do the things that he did, and even greater things because he was going to the Father. As I discussed in service last Sunday, think of the simplest thing Christ did, make disciples, and he has promised you that you will do greater things than these. Pastors, I echo Steven's thoughts and pray that you are as encouraged by his vblog as I was.
Thank you again Steven. May God continue to bless you and your ministry as you faithfully obey His commands.
